| Message For My Child, by Patrick Atkinson (c) 1978, 2003, 2011
In 1978, Patrick Atkinson was given a college writing assignment about raising children. A voracious reader, writer, and book collector since early childhood, Atkinson sought inspiration from Max Ehrmann's 1923 poem, Desiderata. From that inspiration, Atkinson wrote a 7-stanza poem he called, “A Poem For My Child”.
Twenty-five years later, now as a parent and also as the founder and international executive director of numerous international charities, Atkinson revisited his earlier work and rewrote it specifically for his teenage son, Ernesto. He initially renamed it, "A Poem For My Son" and later “A Message For My Child”.
Over the decades, Message For My Child has become internationally popular in print and online, was made into a full-wall ceramic mural, has been formally translated into at least six languages, and over a million copies have been distributed in poster format to schools, juvenile court systems and non-profit organizations worldwide.
This beautifully illustrated bilingual English - Spanish release marks the Message's first appearance as a hard-cover book.
